We want to make sure that students are supported during their move from primary school to life here at Levenshulme. We have a range of events taking place across the year for students to get to know the school, as well as for parents to come in and find out everything you need to know.
The key dates are outlined below. If you have any questions, please use the contact box at the bottom of the page. This will go directly to Mrs Rachael Kerr, she is responsible for Transition and will be able to help with your query.
This is an extremely important time of year for Year 6’s. You should have had your place in a secondary school and be contacting your given high school to accept your place. Once your place has been accepted, you will be sent out information from your high school.
For those of you with a place at Levenshulme High School, there are a number of events coming up:
Welcome Letter – During the upcoming weeks, you will receive a welcome letter with all key dates & information in it. It will also contain the school’s admission booklet, which needs returning to Mrs Kerr at Levenshulme High School; along with the reply slip for attendance at induction days.
A member of the transition team will visit year 6’s in their primary school to ensure that all worries and questions can be answered prior to them starting in September. We will also be asking for information from your daughter’s year 6 teacher to ensure we have a full picture about your daughter’s primary education.
Monday 19th & Tuesday 20th June – Induction days. Your daughter will attend Levenshulme High School between 8:25am – 2:45pm, to experience Levenshulme life. They will meet a number of teachers and experience lessons, whilst beginning to prepare the girls for September.
Monday 19th June, 4-6pm – Induction Evening. Parents/Carers and year 6 pupils are invited to come in to hear from Dr MacKinnon, meet your daughter’s tutor and have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have.
MCS Stores, our uniform supplier, will be in school and will be based in the dining hall during induction evening on Monday 19th June from 3-4:15pm. They will have samples of uniform to try on and purchase. Orders for uniform can also be placed at this time.
School visits can be arranged for any parents/carers that may have missed the opportunities earlier in the year. Please contact Mrs R Kerr via email firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling the school 01612244625
Autumn Term 2017:
Welcoming new Y7 students and ensuring they have a smooth start. Parents invited in on Open Evening to have a look around now their daughters know more about their school.
Years 5 and 6 – Open Evening to show prospective parents our excellent facilities and answer any questions parents might have. More information will follow regarding the date & timings for this event.
Developing links with primary school to ensure the work covered in years 6 and 7 stretches more able students whilst also supporting those who need a little extra help.
School visits can be arranged for any parents who miss Open Evening. Please contact Mrs Rachael Kerr to arrange a visit by email email@example.com or by the school telephone number 0161 2244625.
First progress reports sent home for Y7 students. Parents with any questions can contact Mrs Kerr to make sure everything is understood. Y7 students (along with all other year groups) take part in ‘Facetime’ conversations with teachers, identifying next steps and making plans for how to achieve them. This process will then be supported by tutors, as each student sets learning goals for the next term.
