Urdu Digital Teaching & Learning Conference 2017

Levenshulme high school hosted the annual Urdu Teaching and Learning Conference for the second time on Thursday 6th July, 2017.

The conference was held to provide a valuable opportunity for various different professionals to discuss their involvement and contributions towards the development of teaching and learning in Urdu. For instance, the new GCSE Urdu Specification, Schemes of Work, and digital Urdu resources were discussed.

In particular, the ideal use of digital technology for the invention of Urdu Apps in collaboration with Boolean Bites, in Lahore Pakistan to improve Urdu reading and writing were explored and discussed via Skype. Mr Ali’s book for Urdu reading and writing was launched and received positive feedback. Over 40 delegates attended the conference and it was addressed by 9 speakers. It was the biggest gathering of Urdu teachers in England.

This year’s Urdu conference was sponsored by the Consulate of Pakistan Manchester, Vocabexpress.com, National Council for the Development of Urdu in UK and Routes into Languages North West.
