Levenshulme High School Increased Published Admission Number (PAN) Consultation ( Published: 20/11/2023)

Consultation on a proposed increase to the Published Admission Number (PAN) from 200 to 220 in year 7 to 11 at Levenshulme High School.

Consultation period: 20th November 2023 to 18th December 2023

Why Are We Consulting?

The Schools Admissions Code 2021 (Sections 1.45-1.48) sets out a requirement for all admission authorities to undertake statutory consultation where they propose a variation to the Published Admission Number of a school. The purpose of this consultation is to seek the views of parents, carers and other interested stakeholders on the proposal to increase the admission number at Levenshulme High School for September 2024. The schools admissions code can be found at:

School Admissions Code

The Trustees of the Greater Manchester Education Trust (GMET) propose that the published admissions number (PAN) at Levenshulme High School be increased from 1000 to 1020 from September 2024. The local authority has also been notified of the proposal. The proposal to increase the academy’s PAN will mean that the number of places available for children in year 7 from September 2024 onwards will be 220. This means that over the course of the following four years the academy’s overall capacity will increase from 1000 places to 1100 places. There will be no change for children who already have a place at the academy and no change to the admissions policy and procedures in allocating places at the academy. A link to existing arrangements can be found here:

Admissions Policy for 2024

Manchester’s population has grown considerably and beyond expectations in recent years as a result of new housing development and new arrivals into the city. Current pupil numbers and projections for children requiring a secondary place in the local area mean that there is insufficient space for those pupil numbers in existing school capacity. Increasing the PAN at Levenshulme High School will enable some of those pupils to have a place at the academy.

The proposed increase will mean a small development of the academy’s building, to provide brand new facilities to accommodate the additional pupils over time and to continue to deliver the best possible education and facilities for pupils.
