KS3 Offer
Year 7: I Discover
In year 7 students begin to discover more about themselves, including their interests, skills, and personal qualities, by participating in an in-school World of Work event. This event helps students to develop key employability skills such as communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and time management, while making links between their learning and future careers. The careers programme also includes employer encounters, motivational speakers, trips, and workshops.
Year 8: I Explore
In year 8 students are encouraged to explore their team working skills. They enhance their awareness of how to work under pressure and develop their problem-solving skills. They develop their confidence skills in speaking in front of groups by seeking to explain how they tackled a challenge and build their resilience skills. This is further explored in encounters with employers, motivational speakers, trips and workshops.
Year 9: I Focus
Staff start to signpost students about where could their favourite subject take them. Year 9 are given pathway interviews with the Head of faculties. They attend Option assemblies and option booklets are made available for students to start focusing on the subjects they would like to take and carefully choose their options. They focus on transferable skills and a range of activities are developed through PSHE days to help recognise this.
Students are also encouraged to see school’s Career adviser and Work Related Learning coordinator to discuss possible future career pathways. In addition, the careers team is also available at the Options Evening to discuss future pathways and career choices.
