As part of the AQA GCSE Geography scheme of work, Year 11 students needed to complete a fieldwork investigation. The girls went to Salford Quays on Tuesday 15th October 2019, to work on their investigations.

Year 11 students visit Salford Quays as part of their geography fieldwork investigation in 2019

The aim of the fieldtrip was to carry out an investigation into the impact of regeneration in the Salford Quays area. During the fieldtrip, they spent time working in small groups to collect data on the regeneration changes that have taken place. They focussed on the impact of regeneration socially, environmentally and economically. They had a go at a number of data collection methods, including environmental surveys and pedestrian questionnaires.

Students conducted themselves exceptionally well during the visit. Members of the public were impressed by the mature and polite nature of our students. Ms Wright and the rest of the Geography Department were very proud of the girls and the way they represented Levenshulme High School.

It was an absolute pleasure to watch how our girls conducted themselves and interacted with members of the public.

This was the second fieldwork investigation carried out by this group. The first of these was a visit to Crowden in the Peak District for a river study in July last year. The girls now have a physical and human investigation under their belt and the write up will be used to help them revise for their ‘Geographical Applications’ exam paper.
