Above all, our curriculum is designed to provide appropriate challenge to all students and foster an enjoyment of learning. Students also develop their reading, writing and communication skills, their abilities to organise their work and to work cooperatively with others.
Our curriculum is structured around a one week timetable with each day consisting of five one-hour lessons. Each school day begins with a tutorial session with every student having a personal tutor to provide academic and personal development support.
In the first three years at Levenshulme High School, all students study English, maths, science, history, geography, religious education, a modern foreign language (French, German, Spanish, Arabic or Urdu), technology, art and design, music, drama, computing and PE. Year 7 is made unique by our exciting Dream Day offer, which sees students spending one whole day each week studying identity-related themes across drama, music, art, technology and religious studies. These days enable deep engagement with themes and subject skills and have proved very popular with students as they move from primary to secondary.
During Year 9, students are guided through a supportive Options process, in which they pick the subjects they want to study at Key Stage 4.
