Year 10 Visit to Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU) ( Published: 26/06/2026)
The visit provided students with a valuable opportunity to experience life on a university campus and gain a deeper understanding of higher education.
Students attended an informative talk on higher education, where they learned about university courses, entry requirements, and the benefits of continuing their studies. This session helped to demystify university life and encouraged students to start thinking about their future goals.
A guided campus tour allowed students to explore the university’s facilities, giving them a real insight into the learning environment and student experience at MMU. They also had the opportunity to meet current university student ambassadors, who shared their personal journeys and experiences of studying at university, giving Year 10 students a relatable perspective on higher education.
Overall, the visit was a highly valuable experience, helping students to develop their confidence, ambition, and understanding of the opportunities available to them beyond secondary school. We would like to thank the MMU Outreach Team for making this visit possible for our students.
Students said of the experience:
The Higher Education talk was very informative, and I learned a lot of new things about university.
I didn’t know you could study a language alongside a degree.
I was not aware of this MMU campus and how central it is in Manchester – I can see myself coming to this university.
I was not aware of how many courses are on offer and the societies that students can get involved in.
